Bore Condition: The bore is dark and has oxidation and visible rifling.
Description:

Joseph Douglass Sr. (1784-1841) and his son Joseph Douglass Jr. (1819-1882) both worked in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania and produced beautiful rifles in the region's stile. The lightly swamped octagonal rifled barrel is signed "J. DouglaSs" followed by "No 43" or possibly "No 45" and has scroll engraving flaking the dovetailed blade and notch sights. The lock has floral engraving. The rifle is equipped with adjustable double set triggers and has brass mounts and German silver inlays with floral, scroll, and wavy line engraving. The cheekpiece inlay has a spread wing eagle.

Rating Definition:

Good with a mix of artificial dark brown patina and applied finish on the lock and barrel, aged patina on the brass and German silver, and general mild overall wear. The refinished stock has a spliced forend and mild wear. Mechanically fine (set trigger first).
