Description:

Manufactured as a part of the first production block from Winchester Repeating Arms Co. (serial number range from 1,000,000 to 1,349,999) produced from October 1942 to December 1943, with this example produced after February 1943 (when Winchester stopped adding dates to barrels). Features winged blade front and "S" marked two position 'L' flip rear sights, undated Winchester "W" marked and circled "WP" proofed barrel with "ordnance bomb" on the gas cylinder and bright chamber, type 1 barrel band with two weld scars, "W" type 2 blued flat top bolt, "W" type 1 slide, unmarked type 2 detachable spring tube, "W" type 2 recoil plate, and a "O/W" milled trigger housing with checkered" type 1 safety, "W" type 2 magazine release, "W" sear, and "W" type 2 hammer. Fitted with a smooth oiled walnut 'high-wood' stock with "I" cut oiler slot and flat bottom forend, marked with "W.R.A./G.H.D." (Col. Guy H. Drewry) inspector cartouche and "ordnance wheel" on the right of the butt, topped off with an unmarked type 1 deep-groove, two-rivet handguard, and with an "IW" blued magazine. Includes an OD green web sling and metal oiler.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 95% plus original parkerized finish with some minor edge wear, some light band slide streaks on the barrel, some minor spotting/brown patina showing, but otherwise limited mild handling marks. The stock is very fine with minor handling marks and crisp markings. Mechanically excellent.
