Manufactured in 1940. The top of the barrel is marked with the standard two-line address/patent dates, and the left is marked "NEW SERVICE 44-40". The Rampant Colt is on the left rear of the frame, and the trigger guard is marked with "VP" and "3". It is fitted with blade and frame notch sights and a pair of checkered grips with colt medallions. Excellent, retains 98% plus original blue finish with a few scratches visible on the left forward side of the frame and minimal evidence of a cylinder drag line. Grips are also excellent with crisp checkering and minimal handling evidence. Mechanically excellent. Box is fine with some corner wear, a few minor tears in the lid, and a complete end label.
