Rare Large Scale U.S. Military Training Model of the U.S. Model 1911A1 Pistol with Stand

A rare large-scale semi-functional training model of the U.S. Model 1911A1 semi-automatic pistol made from hardwood, measuring roughly 33 inches tall, 50 inches long, and 7 1/2 inches wide. Such large scale models were made as training aids for the principles of operation of various general issue weapon systems by the U.S. military throughout World War II and after, with the larger realistic mechanics of such models useful in demonstrating operation to a classroom of multiple trainees better than the significantly smaller and costly real steel version. Features a functional and movable slide, slide catch, hammer, magazine release, and drop-able simulated magazine. The barrel bushing, plunger, recoil spring, spring guide, and slide catch can also be realistically removed, while the trigger, thumb safety, and grip safety are inoperable. Fitted with length of pipe that extends down from the trigger guard, with two reinforcing sections on the front strap for mounting the display on the included custom floor stand, which brings the display to a total height of 55 inches.

ConditionFine, with general wear, some flaking paint, along with some long term storage debris built up in the interior, but otherwise completely functional. Such a large scale model of the U.S. M1911A1 pistol would make for an undoubtedly eye catching and prominent addition to any U.S. military or 1911 themed collection display!
