Description:

Manufactured in 1945, the late war "Zero Series" P.38 was made using a combination of commercial components and other found/redirected parts, with an estimated production total of less than 2,000 as described on page 189 of Warren H. Buxton's " The P.38 Pistol: Volume Two." Blade front and notch rear sights, with the "ac 45" production code on the left side of the slide, "eagle/swastika" and "eagle/359" proofs on the right, "eagle/swastika" on the barrel and locking block, and "eagle/359" on the locking block. Matching serial numbers found on the barrel, upper right side of the slide, and frame, with a matching partial number on the locking block. Fitted with a pair of ribbed brown Bakelite grips and an "eagle/359" and "P.38v" marked blued magazine with un-numbered base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 85% plus original blue finish, showing a plum tone to the frame, darker color on the slide and barrel, and mixed colored appearance to the slide catch and transfer bar, with bright edge wear, minor spotting and light handling marks. The toe of the frame is rough and unpolished, appearing to be a factory manufacturing defect/blemish. The grips are fine, with minor scratches. Mechanically excellent.
