Manufactured in 1936, the first year of Model 70 production. The barrel is fitted with a ramped, beaded blade front sight and elevation adjustable rear sights. The barrel is marked with the model and caliber markings on the left, and the Winchester address on the right. "WP" proofs are stamped on the left of the chamber and receiver. The early cloverleaf tang receiver properly is drilled and tapped on the ring and left side of the clip slotted bridge and marked with the Winchester trademark on the left and serial number on the right of the receiver ring. Mounted in a multipoint checkered straight grain walnut pistol grip stock with sling loops and checkered blued steel buttplate.

Very fine as period refinished, retaining 97% blue finish with limited handling marks, some pitting under the finish, and some spots of plum coloration. The stock is fine as re-varnished with some dings and scratches, overall crisp checkering, and a crack off the upper tang. Mechanically excellent.
