Manufactured circa late 1944 to early 1945, with a rough sequential serial range of 24,184 to 25,811. The late war production Mod. P.38 was essentially same as the prior production Mod. HP pistols with the exception of the designation change on the slide from "Mod HP" to "Mod P38", likely made as a business decision to bolster private Wehrmacht and commercial sales due to the higher familiarity with the military P.38 designation. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, Walther banner with two-line address, patent, and caliber marking, along with the "Mod P38" designation on the left side, along with "eagle/N" proofs on the right side of the frame, slide, barrel, and locking block. Matching serial numbers on the right of the frame, upper right of the slide, front of the barrel, and with a matching "370" partial under the locking block. Fitted with a pair of ribbed Bakelite grips, marked "P/1529/5" under the left and "P/1528/5" under the right, and an "eagle/359" proofed blued magazine with un-numbered base. Includes a shoulder holster with extra magazine, a Walther banner wood-grain conversion kit box, with "PPK and "7.65" crossed out and replaced with "9 m/m" and "P.38" in pen, a stainless rimfire barrel sleeve with blued compression spring and brass connection nut, a brass rod, and six blued steel 9 mm Luger rimfire adapter cartridges for a different pattern rimfire conversion system.
