This is a an early World War II Luger pistol that was manufactured by the Mauser factory in 1939, and is complete with its two original matching numbered magazines. Features blade front and notch rear sights, "1939" dated chamber, "S/42" Mauser code on the front toggle link, drooped wing "eagle/655" proofs on the extension, barrel and both magazines, and "eagle" firing proofs on the barrel, extension, and breech block. The rear toggle pin is numbered "58" (likely a factory error) with otherwise matching visible serial numbers including both of the accompanying magazines, with the interior of the unnumbered grip panels both stamped with an "S/42" Mauser code and drooped wing "eagle/154" proof. Import marked bottom of barrel. The lot is also accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from noted author Jan C. Still's family verifying it is from his personal collection. Fine, retains 70% plus original blue finish with holster edge wear, and grip strap wear with scattered light surface freckling. Grips are very fine with some scattered light handling marks concentrated on the left panel and otherwise defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
