Manufactured from 1960 to 1980. The barrel is fitted with a ramped blade front sight and an adjustable rear sight. The receiver displays scroll engraving with scallop and decorative bordering. The top of the barrel at the breech has a 2 1/4 inch wedge of the same engraving design, as well as the trigger guard and bottom of the magazine. The left side of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/patent numbers followed by ".308 WIN.". The bottom of the frame directly ahead of the magazine is engraved "Remington/MODEL 742 D" over the serial number. Mounted with a multi-point checkered nicely figured walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a plastic Remington grip cap, checkered plastic buttplate.

Excellent, retaining 99% plus original blue finish with limited handling marks and crisp engraving. Wood is very fine with some light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
