Description:

This was a special model produced for the West German Border Police (Bundesgrenzscutz, Federal Border Guard) in the early 1950s with about 5,000 produced, featuring German proofs, a two-tone blue finish (polished slide, sandblasted frame), and checkered black plastic grips. Established in 1951, the BGS was a paramilitary organization responsible for border security and patrol, and would serve as both a major source of men for the Bundeswehr and the predecessor of the modern Bundespoliezi. Blade front and fixed notch rear sights, with a loaded chamber indicator and "SIG" marking on the slide, "eagle/BMDJ1" proofs on the frame and barrel, and matching serial numbers on the slide, frame, barrel and hammer housing. A laser engraved importer mark has been applied to the frame around the magazine well, with an unmarked blued magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 97% plus original blue finish, with mild spotting concentrated on the hammer and slide catch and minor handling marks overall. The grips are excellent, with a few light dings
