An air-cooled variant of the earlier Model 1917 water-cooled machine gun, the Model 1919 was developed shortly after World War I and became the standard medium caliber machine gun for the U.S. and several other nations throughout and after World War II. This specific example is configured as a M1919A6, which was an attempt by the U.S. to produce a light machine gun version of the M1919 for squad level use. Features folding blade front and folding ladder rear sights, ventilated steel barrel shroud, folding walnut gripped carry handle, cast metal pistol grip, conical flash hider, Israeli M1919 pattern bipod adapter, and Israeli marked M1919A6 pattern detachable sheet metal buttstock. The right side plate is marked with the manufacturer's address, model, caliber, and serial number.
