This all original, matching FN FAL Paratrooper Rifle model 50.63 as imported by Gun South/HOWCO Distributers in the late 1970s/early 1980s. This is not a kit gun, but an original FN-Herstal manufactured rifle with the early paratrooper features. It is estimated that approximately 1375 Model 50.63 were actually imported in the SN range of S1595840-S1597214. Fitted with the early features: 18 inch paratrooper barrel, folding cocking handle on the left side, short 12 hole muzzle compensator, 200 meter fixed Holland rear sight with the type three receiver without the cut for a carry handle, with original side-folding butt stock only used on these early paratrooper rifles. The bolt and bolt carrier are both properly stamped with the matching last four digits of the serial number. The right side receiver is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL/FN .308 MADE IN BELGIUM/GUN SOUTH INC. BIRMINGHAM, AL." The left is marked "CAL. 7.62 MM (308)". The side of the magazine well is also properly stamped "HOWCO DIST. INC./LAUREL MD. USA." It is complete with one original FN-FAL 20 round magazine and a green G3 type web sling.

Excellent with 99% of the original FN-Herstal applied black baked on finish with a hint of a drag line under the safety lever and a hint of wear on the upper corner of the hinge on the folding stock. There is no evidence of having been fired outside the factory as there is no firing reside inside the compensator with no brass marking on the right front edge of the top cover. The bolt face and bolt carrier still have storage grease residue on them. This is a top collector grade FN-FAL Paratrooper rifle.
