Description:

The factory letter lists this revolver in .38-40 with a 4 3/4 inch barrel and blue finish when it was part of a shipment of 5 guns of this type sent to Stauffer Eshlemen & Company in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 26, 1912. It was subsequently custom embellished with traditional Texas cattle brand pattern pioneered by Cole Agee. This highly desirable pattern was developed in the 1940/50s and depicted the more prominent and historic Texas cattle brands used in the 1880s and early 1900s. The engraving covers nearly all of the surface and is in the typical Western style, all on a punch dot background. Although the work is unsigned, the quality is that of a well accomplished master engraver. Gold plated cylinder, hammer, trigger, and ejector rod. Nickel plated barrel, frame, and grip straps. Matching serial numbers appear on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as custom embellished, retaining 95% nickel and 70% gold finishes and modified front sight. The engraving is crisp. The slightly undersized grip is fine with a few typical age lines and attractive color and grain. Mechanically excellent.
