Description:

Manufactured between 1891 and 1918. Features beaded blade front sight and rear sight consisting of a standing leaf and a flip up leaf on a matted solid rib marked "J. TOMISCHKA IN KREMS A.D." as well as an integral peep tang sight, with a band of light engraving at the breech, dolls head barrel extension, and Weipert proofs on the underside. The frame is engraved with relief game scenes of deer on the left and boar on the right surrounded by floral scroll work. The lock also features a deer game scene and decorated hammer. Mounted on a multipoint checkered, pistol grip buttstock and Mannlicher forend with Swiss cheekpiece and metal Neider buttplate. Includes "JOH. SPRINGER'SERBE IN WIER" marked scope.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 75% plus original blue finish on the barrel with thinning to brown on the balance. The frame retains traces of case colors in protected areas with a mostly smooth grey patina. The lock retains traces of case colors in protected areas as well with a smooth brown patina and a repair at the nose. Wood is very good with a hairline crack visible at the toe which extends past the rear sling loop and a crack which comes off the lower tang through the checkering on the pistol grip. Mechanically fine. The scope retains most of the exterior blue finish with half of the other finishes and hazy optics.
