Description:

This flask likely dates to the 16th or 17th century. It features a deep relief carved antique ivory body with extensive scroll, foliate, martial, and classical motifs along with a coronet and "JA" cipher on one side and a coronet over an escutcheon with three fleurs-de-lis and a bust of a gentleman on the other side. The iron mounts have gilding, scrollwork, masks, and fluting. The flask is fitted with a tasseled cord.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with aged tones and distinct carving on the body, most of the lightly aged gilding remaining, dark patina on the iron, and fairly minor age related wear.
