This specific Portuguese contract Luger is one of approximately 50 Luger pistols ordered in June 1937 that fall into the 4301v-4350v serial number range. These were some of the last Lugers to be ordered and delivered to an outside country by the Mauser factory prior to World War II, when all sales of military type weapons were suspended based on the need to equip the German Army. It is correctly marked "SEGURANCA" and "CARREGADA" respectively on the safety area and extractor, noted only on Portuguese contract Lugers. It has the standard commercial model "Mauser Banner" logo on the toggle with a blank chamber area and fixed sights with military style serial number placement. All visible serial numbered components are matching including the nickel plated magazine with matching number "4321v" marked on the aluminum base, with unnumbered checkered walnut grips. "Crown/U" firing proof on the left side of the barrel extension and breech block. Includes an unmarked reproduction Portuguese military pattern leather holster containing a combination tool and cleaning rod.
