Description:

Developed in the 1880s, Marius Berger's repeating pistol shares features with the Volcanic lever action pistol as well as the Remington-Rider Magazine Pistol, while also showing similarities to the Remington Rolling Block and European military revolvers of the mid to late 19th century. Loading is accomplished via an under-barrel magazine tube, with a rotating plunger housing which doubles as a full-length loading gate, opening up the entire side for inserting cartridges. The left side plate is hinged and swings open to reveal the internals, with an elevator assembly and breechblock similar to the Rider, and a hammer which interlocks with the breechblock on discharge for increased stability like the Rolling Block. A long ring trigger operates the whole mechanism. Fitted with a tall blade front sight on a barrel with the serial number and St. Etienne proof stamp followed by "ST. ETIENNE." The side plate and left grip panel are also numbered to the gun. Blued barrel, nickel plated magazine tube, and casehardened frame. Includes a custom fitted "book" case for the pistol which is titled "Nordisk Familjebok" (Swedish encyclopedia).

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 95% original blue finish turning to a plum. The magazine tube retains 90% original nickel finish. The frame retains 95% vivid original case colors. The grips are very good with a noticeable chip visible on the lower left forward panel, some scattered handling marks, and edge wear. Mechanically fine. The custom made case is fine.
