Description:

Built up by Specialty Arms of Springfield, Ohio, using a re-welded TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. M14 receiver and surplussed U.S.G.I. components, and configured after the M14E2. Meant to fill the role of the older M1918 BAR, the M14E2 was developed as a dedicated squad-support version of the M14 selective fire battle rifle, adapted to better handle the recoil of the 7.62x51 mm chambering through the high-cyclic rate capable Garand pattern action, with the additions of a bipod, folding vertical grip, and pistol grip on the stock. This variant replaced the failed M15 heavy barreled squad-support rifle program, and was later re-designated as the M14A1, though only 8,350 would officially be manufactured. Features fixed winged blade front sight and knob adjustable peep rear sight assembly, receiver mounted shell deflector/stripper-clip adapter, flash hider with bayonet lug on the "1 63" dated TRW barrel, adjustable M14E2 pattern folding metal bipod, "7790186/TRW ZG" bolt, "7267064 SA" operating rod, and "7267030-HR-N" trigger housing with a "C46008-5 SA" M1 Garand hammer and a "MXR" safety. The receiver heel bear a faint two-line "U.S. RIFLE/7.62-MM M14" above the TRW "triangle" and the serial number. Fitted with a ventilated brown fiberglass handguard and birch M14E2 pattern stock with folding polymer vertical grip support on the forend, integrated pistol grip, and folding shoulder rest on the steel buttplate. Includes a "7791661" marked compensator attachment (which slides over the flash hider and secures to the bayonet lug) and a green web sling. Magazine is absent.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as re-manufactured and built up by Specialty Arms, retaining 95% of the parkerized finish with softened receiver heel markings, some minor pitting under the finish of the receiver, some light edge wear, silvering on the flash hider from the slide-on compensator attachment, some light cycling wear, and light handling marks. The stock is also very fine as re-oiled with scattered light scrapes and handling marks. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
