Manufactured prior to World War II. Blued steel barrels featuring a ramped blade front sight with a flip-up moon bead, two leaf (one standing, one folding) rear sight, and German claw mounts holding a Kollmorgan Bear Cub 2 3/4x scope on the matted solid rib which is signed "NAGEL U. MENZ HOFBUCHSENMACHER STRASSBURG U. BADEN", pre-World War II German proofs, front sling swivel, and chambers with a single extractor. The barrels are fitted to the casehardened scalloped boxlock action with Greener crossbolt which displays carved fences and scroll engraving with "NAGEL U. MENZ HOFBUCHSENMACHER" on the left and "BADEN-BADEN. STRASSBURG" on the right and features bushed firing pins, dual single set triggers, cocking indicators, and a tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid "S". The rifle is fitted with a multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and a beautifully figured pistol grip stock with teardrop drop points, engraved grip cap, cheekpiece, rear sling swivel, monogrammed inscription oval, and steel heel and toe plates around the checkered butt. Very fine, retaining 95% original blue finish with some patches of loss, minor spotting, 25% original case colors with the balance grey, slight discoloration, a few minor marks in the wood, and mostly crisp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. Scope optics clear.
