Description:

Manufactured c. 1973 by Springfield Armory Inc. in Devine, Texas, under the ownership of Elmer C. Balance, who was the first to produce a semi-automatic version of the U.S. M14 select-fire service rifle. These early production M1A rifles were largely built from surplus USGI components, as is the case with this example. Features a winged blade front and adjustable peep rear sight assembly, flash hider with bayonet lug, "SA" marked and "8 67" dated barrel, receiver mounted shell deflector/stripper-clip adapter, "7790186/HRT A20/CBP" bolt, "7267064/66118" operating rod, and "7267030-HR-N" trigger housing with "5546008 HR AD" hammer. The bottom of the barrel is marked with a one-line "RTI BX 210 DEVINE TEX" address. Fitted with a "OM" marked parkerized magazine, brown fiberglass handguard, and a USGI M14 profile walnut stock, marked with a boxed "DoD eagle" acceptance stamp on the left of the wrist and circled "P" firing proof on the grip, with a selector cutout on the right side and hinged shoulder support plate on the buttplate. Note: This item is restricted under various state-level assault weapons bans and cannot be sold or transferred to residents of CA, CT, DE, HI, IL, MD, NJ, NY, and WA. Please check your local laws and regulations prior to bidding.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 97% plus original parkerized finish with some limited minor edge and handling marks. The stock is also excellent with rich oil finish, a few minor handling marks, and crisp markings. Mechanically excellent. Overall an attractive example of an early Devine, Texas, produced M1A rifle!
