Manufactured by Fabrique Nationale in Herstal, Belgium c. 1980-1988 as a semi-automatic commercial variant of the firm's select-fire "Fusil Automatique Léger" (FAL) rifle. Features winged post front and sliding peep rear sights, flash hider with bayonet lug, hand-adjustable gas system, and folding wire carry handle. The receiver retains a factory cut sear pocket, with an uncut ejector block; it is not readily compatible with a safety sear. The left side of the type 3 receiver is marked ".308 MATCH" while the right side is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL/MADE IN BELGIUM" along with an importer mark underneath. Matching serial numbers on the bolt and bolt carrier. Fitted with a ventilated plastic handguard, smooth plastic pistol grip, and fixed buttstock with rubber buttpad.
