Auto-Ordnance/Savage Model 1928 Thompson Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA C&R Fully Transferable Machine Gun

Originally manufactured in the U.S. in the 1940s and sent to an unknown foreign destination, this Thompson 1928 was brought back to the States and registered prior to 1986. An evolution of the 1921 Thompson based on user feedback, the 1928 Thompson was America's primary submachine gun at the opening of World War II, seeing active service on all fronts in American hands, as well as being actively exported to American allies via Lend-Lease. Blade front sight on the Cutts-marked compensator and Lyman folding ladder rear sight, with the signature ribbing on the rear of the "S" marked barrel, dual pistol grips, and a quick detach buttstock. The model and caliber markings are present on the left side of the frame along with an added import mark, with the Auto-Ordnance address and patent dates on the right. The trigger housing is numbered to match the receiver, with checkered selector and safety switches. The internals are 1928 pattern, with an "S" marked bolt, thin recoil spring/spring guide, Blish lock, and oiler.

ConditionFine, with 60% of the original blue finish, showing areas of gray and brown patina on the compensator and receiver, a higher polish blue on the barrel, and mild wear and handling marks overall. Stock is very good, with a number of dents and scuffs concentrated on the right side. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
