Manufactured between 1931 and 1934 according to Nigel Brown's "British Gunmakers Volume One: London". Built with blued steel barrels featuring a single bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which is faintly signed with the Hellis address as well as a gold "1" in scroll engraving, band of engraving at the breech, import mark under the forend, choke constrictions of .006/.040 inches, and 2 1/2 inch chambers with ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the brushed bright sidelock action which displays extensive foliate scroll engraving surrounding "C. HELLIS & SONS Ltd." banners on either lockplate and a gold "1" on the toplever. The gun features dual triggers (front articulated), right hand rolled trigger guard, and a tang mounted automatic safety with gold inlaid "SAFE". The gun is fitted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved iron and a gold "1" on the Anson button as well as a straight hand stock with carved drop points, blank inscription oval, and checkered bare butt.
