Excellent Documented Duluth, Minnesota Shipped Colt New Service .38-40 W.C.F. Double Action Revolver with Pearl Grips and Factory Letter

Per the included factory letter, this revolver was sold as a single item to Scorlett Motor Sales of Duluth, Minnesota, to be shipped via the Marshall-Wells Hardware Company of Duluth on August 17, 1937, noted as being in ".38/40" caliber, 5 1/2 inch barrel, nickel finish and "Not Listed" grips. No information is available on Scorlett Motor Sales, and it is unknown if this was intended as a defensive weapon for the company or a more personal purchase. Marshall-Wells Hardware, like many hardware concerns prior to 1968, included firearms in their inventory, including items like Registered Magnums and Thompson Submachine Guns. Fixed sights, with the two-line address and patent markings on top of the barrel, model and caliber markings on the left, "VP" and "3" on the left side of the triggerguard, "Rampant Colt" on the sideplate, and smooth pearl grips. Provenance: The Charles Marx Collection

ConditionExcellent, with 98% original nickel finish, showing minor scratches and dings overall and minor frosting. The grips are slightly oversized but otherwise excellent, with minor handling marks and attractive color. Mechanically excellent.
