Manufactured in 1902, the included factory letter confirms the revolver's configuration, including a seven and one half inch long barrel in .44 Russian, blue finish, and type of grips not listed, when sent in a lone shipment to Clapp & Treat in Hartford, Connecticut, on December 23, 1902. Features elevation adjustable blade front and windage adjustable notch rear sights, the two-line Colt address and patent dates roll-marked on top of the barrel with the model and caliber designations on the left side, Rampant Colt surrounded by "COLT'S/NEW SERVICE" on the left of the frame, checkered grip straps, and "8" on the right side of the trigger guard. Matching serial numbers on the frame and crane. Fitted with a pair of checkered walnut grips with matching "7726" serial numbers written on the interiors in pencil.
