Documented Colt Factory Engineering Archives Detective Special Double Action Revolver Serial Number F40000 with Box and Factory Letter

The included factory letter confirms the serial number, barrel length, caliber, finish, "Wood" grips, and May 20, 1996, date of Shipment to Butterfield & Butterfield of San Francisco, California. The letter further states that the revolver was initially kept in the Colt Factory Archives for use by the Custom Shop, engineering, and historical departments for reference purposes. Includes original "wood grain" box. Provenance: The Colt Factory Archives Collection; The Charles Marx Collection

ConditionExcellent overall. 99% slightly frosted original nickel finish remains with a few light handling marks, and sharp checkering on the grips. Mechanically excellent. Box is fair with end flaps detached but included. A chance to own a very attractive Colt Detective Special revolver that was initially retained by the firm for its own Engineering Archive collection!
