Documented Factory Engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver with King Target Sights, Ivory Grips, and Factory Letter

The accompanying factory letter states this revolver was sold to individual Alexander Kagen of Reading, Pennsylvania, and shipped on February 16, 1926, to Schoverling, Daly & Gales in New York City, in .45 caliber, with a 5 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, ivory grips, and factory engraved, as the sole gun of its type in the shipment, under Colt factory order #10786/1. Page 158 of "Colt Peacemaker Encyclopedia Vol. II" by Keith Cochran lists this revolver by serial number and confirms the information in the factory letter. This revolver is also pictured on page 94 of the book "Home Gunsmithing the Colt Single Action Revolvers" by Loren Smith. This revolver has a professionally mounted Colt-King Super Target sight rib on top, with a blade front sight with red bead, and adjustable notch rear sight, and also has been tastefully configured with a short action hammer with a light trigger release, and wide custom trigger for target shooting. The revolver is embellished with engraving consisting of floral designs and scrollwork. The barrel is marked with "45 COLT" on the left side and the one-line Hartford address on top concealed by the sight rib. The left side of the frame has the two-line patent date markings followed by a Rampant Colt. The full serial number appears on the frame, with matching "65" on the rear face of the cylinder, and assembly number "224" on the loading gate. Provenance: The Charles Marx Collection

ConditionVery fine as Colt-King upgraded, retains 85% blue finish and 75% case colors. Grips are also very fine, with some age lines, minor handling marks, and defined edges. Mechanically excellent.
