Manufactured c. late 18th century to early 19th century. This is a highly attractive presentation grade British cavalry officer's saber. It is decorated with niter blue and gold filled engravings consisting of floral designs, a Royal Coat of Arms, and a crown above "GR" cipher with the flat spine maker signed "J.J. Runkel Solingen". Gilt brass hilt, with a crown above "GR" cipher design in the guard, a detailed lion head pommel, and a wire wrapped ivory grip. The saber measures approximately 37 3/4 inches in overall length with an approximately 32 1/2 inch curved blade. Includes a gilt brass mounted brown leather scabbard.
