Built from a Browning patent, the M1895 could handle the powerful loads of the day, making it a favorite among big game hunters like Theodore Roosevelt. German silver blade front sight and elevator semi-buckhorn rear sight on the octagon barrel, with standard two line address and one line caliber markings on the top flat. The lever and action are standard, with the upper tang marked "WINCHESTER/ MODEL 1895", and the lower tang is marked "J" and "S" on either side . Smooth straight grip walnut stock with a Schnabel tip forearm with ebony insert and a smooth crescent buttplate. Made in 1900.

Good, with traces of the original blue finish, showing a mottled brown patina on much of the surface, and a smoother gray on the raised surfaces. There are also some light dings and scratches, and a few areas of minor spotting. The stock is very good as cleaned, with some mild pressure dents and scratches, and some darkening around the receiver and buttplate. The action is fine.
