Manufactured in 1884, this is a Third Model rifle with the dust cover guide rail integrally machined to the receiver and a serrated rear edge on the dust cover. The dovetail blade front sight and two leaf express rear sight are replacements. The barrel is marked: "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT /.- KING'S IMPROVEMENT. PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860." ahead of the rear sight. Caliber designation at the breech and on the elevator. "MODEL 1876" on the upper tang and serial number on the lower tang. Full length magazine, smooth forearm with iron forearm tip and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate with buttstock compartment.

Good as refinished. All metal surfaces have an artificial brownish patina with overall scattered light pitting. The wood has been repaired and revarnished with scattered overall dents, dings and scratches. All markings are clear. The action is fine.
