Description:

Also known as the "Bulldog" this Hammond Patent, single shot, pivot breech pistol was one of approximately 8000 manufactured by the Connecticut Arms and Manufacturing Company of Naubuc, Connecticut, between 1866 and the late 1880s. The octagon barrel has a half-moon, German silver, front sight blade and a high polish blue finish. The breech-block, frame, trigger and hammer are case-hardened with bright case colors. The two-piece, black, hard rubber grips have checkered panels. The top of the barrel has the one-line marking: "CONNECTICUT ARMS & MANF'G CO NAUBIC CONN". "PATENTED OCT. 25. 1864" is stamped along the forward edge of the breech-block. The contact points of the breech latch, hammer and trigger are knurled. Screw heads have a fiery, niter blue, finish.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus. The barrel has at least 98% of the original, high polish, blue finish intact and sows only very insignificant storage wear. The breech-block, trigger, hammer and frame retain nearly 98% of the vivid case colors with some minor silvering on the back strap. The barrel markings are crisp. The grips are excellent and show only very minor storage wear. The pistol appears to be un-fired and is an exceptional example of a Hammond Patent "Bulldog" Deringer.
