This is a second model carbine manufactured in 1879. Fixed front sight with buckhorn adjustable rear sight. The barrel address is marked in two lines but cut off by the replacement rear sight. An oval thumb print guide is checkered irregularly on the top of the replacement dust cover. The upper tang is stamped with model designation while the lower tang is marked with the serial number. Saddle ring on the left side of the frame. Smooth oiled walnut straight grip stock.

Fair. The barrel has an artificial gray patina overall showing some surface scratches and handling marks. The frame also retains no original finish and is a mottled gray/brown patina exhibiting some surface scratches and dings. The wood is poor. There is a large repair on the left butt stock with a brass rivets on each side of the wrist, other fills and pins to the rear. The action is tight.
