Description:

Manufactured in 1889, this is a Third Model with the dust cover that operates on the central guide rail integrally machined as part of the receiver. Fixed German silver blade front sight with adjustable rear buckhorn sight. The top of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS.NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A./ KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29.1866.OCTOBER 16.1860.". The caliber is marked on the barrel at the action and on the brass carrier. Serial number on the lower tang and the one line model designation on the upper tang. Plain forearm with a steel forend cap and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate with the compartment, (cleaning rod, sight elevator, and dust cover not included). The barrel and magazine tube were cut to the current length.

Rating Definition:

Completely refinished and modified. Much of the surface is an artificial brown patina, with some minor pitting and handling marks overall. The stock is repaired, with a few filled cracks in the buttstock, light chipping around the upper tang, and mild scratches and pressure dents. The action is functional.
