Manufactured from 1899 to 1915, this rifle features the standard blade front and adjustable rear ladder sights. Top barrel flat marked with two line address/patent dates, the left flat marked "SAVAGE SMOKELESS STEEL. / HIGH PRESSURE POWDER." and the caliber designation on the top flat at the breech. Casehardened frame and lever with the brass cartridge counter on the left side of the receiver, rectangular cocking indicator, checkered Schnabel forearm and pistol grip stock with a casehardened steel buttplate.

Very good plus. The barrel retains approximately half of the thinning original blue finish with some very light spotting, edge wear and some minor scattered flaking. The casehardened surfaces have a dark mottled smooth patina showing much of the original casehardened pattern. The wood is very good with a few minor bruises in the checkering and a small gouge on the forearm and some light scratches and pressure dents on the buttstock. For the most part the checkering remains crisp. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
