Rechambered in caliber .30-06 by U.S. Ordnance Corps for issue to the Republic of Korea (ROK). The left side of the receiver is boldly marked "U.S. CAL. 30".Gun has a fixed front sight, folding ladder rear sight with anti-aircraft wings, obliterated mum, standard serial number and arsenal markings, rubber muzzle cap, smooth pistol grip stock with green canvas sling and flat buttplate. This type of conversion was done under the direction of U.S. Ordnance at Tokyo Arsenal between June 1952 and July 1952. The following period items are included: 1) a plaque raised marked "M/SGT L.A. BARRETT / U.S. ARMY" on one side and a South Korea village scene with the inscription "THE BARRETTS / KOREA 1954-55" on the other; 2) a cigarette case marked "1953 / KOREA" over a military base log; 3) 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" photograph of an American G.I.; 4) Korean service medal; 5) United Nations medal for serving in Korea; 5) Military Government Korea shoulder sleeve patch; and Korean pin.
