Produced in the 1880s, with less than a few thousand estimated to have been made. The top of the barrel is marked with the standard two line address/patent dates, the complete serial number is marked on the left side of the front strap, rear face of the cylinder and on the barrel lug. The left side of the frame below the cylinder is marked "38 CAL.", all nickel finish with a casehardened hammer and trigger, fitted with smooth mother of pearl grips. A previous owner has left their Social Security number scratched into both sides of the front strap
