The bar hammer is marked "W.W.MARSTON" on top and "PATENTED 1849" on the left side and "NEW.YORK" on the right. The frame is engraved on both sides with floral scrolls and light engraving on the back strap and light engraving on the nipple shield. The grip screws have steel escutcheons.
