Factory Engraved Smith & Wesson 38 Hand Ejector Military & Police Model of 1905 with Factory Letter

Manufactured in 1908 this Smith & Wesson M&P Model of 1905 First Change is a very early, very scarce Oscar Young factory engraved Smith & Wesson revolver which features an all nickel finish with a casehardened hammer and trigger and fitted with factory pearl grips with Smith & Wesson medallions. The sides of the barrel, frame, cylinder flats, and backstrap are nicely floral scroll and punch dot engraved covering about 1/3 of the revolver. The left side of the barrel is marked "38 S&W SPECIAL / & U.S. SERVICE CTG'S" in a panel and the right side is marked with the three line address/patent dates, also in a panel. The right side of the frame is marked with the Smith & Wesson trademark logo. The revolver is fully documented with a Smith & Wesson letter dated July 2, 1985 which gives a brief history of the M&P Model of 1905 revolver and verifies the serial number, factory engraving, nickel finish, pearl grips and that it was shipped from the factory on December 28, 1908 to a Harry M. Styner.

ConditionExcellent overall with approximately 98-99% of the unpolished original nickel plated finish, with just a small amount of wear around the muzzle a few very small areas of flaking on the cylinder. The hammer retains 98% original vivid case colors and the trigger has a smooth gray with mottled discoloration. The grips are in almost new condition with great color on both panels and only light handling marks. Just a super example of a very scarce, documented factory engraved Smith & Wesson M&P Model 1905 revolver with factory pearl grips.
