Manufactured in 1973 this Special Edition factory engraved revolver features floral scroll patterns with a punch dot background covering the muzzle and rear half, sides of the barrel, the frame, upper portion of the crane, cylinder flats and the trigger guard bow. The right side of the barrel is marked "44 MAGNUM", the left side "SMITH & WESSON" and the frame is marked with the standard S&W logo on the left side and the four line address on the right side. The revolver has a blade front sight with a red insert and the adjustable rear sight has the white outline. All blue finish with a casehardened serrated target trigger and checkered target hammer. The grips are ivory that have been beautifully factory carved with 13 stars in two rows at the top, an eagle in flight with olive branches and a scroll in his talons, a shield around the screw and floral and scroll patterns at the bottoms with a stippled background. The revolver is accompanied by a Smith & Wesson factory letter which gives a brief history of the Model 29 revolver. The letter further verifies the serial number, and states that the revolver was a "Special Engraved Edition", 44 Remington Magnum and that it was shipped on July 12, 1973 and delivered to Gene Sears Supply Company, El Reno, Oklahoma. The letter further states that the shipping records indicate "this revolver was a special probably engraved," however the invoices were not available at the time of the letter.

Near new with only a very faint drag line on the cylinder and the slightest handling marks. The grips are excellent with a very attractive grain and sharp carving. An absolute must for any Smith & Wesson Model 29 enthusiast.
