Description:

This Winchester Model 1894 Carbine was manufactured in 1925. The carbine has a 20-inch round barrel, uncapped forearm and steel shotgun buttplate. The receiver is not fitted with a saddle ring. (typical of "Eastern" style model 1894's) The barrel has a Lyman front sight with ivory bead and a folding adjustable leaf rear sight. The barrel, magazine and receiver are blued and the hammer and loading lever are casehardened. The stock and forearm are straight grained walnut. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped: "-MODEL94-WINCHESTER-NICKEL STEEL- 30 WCF- / - TRADE MARK-" in two lines below the rear sight. The opposite side of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line legend: "MADE IN THE USA WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO / -NEW HAVEN CONN.-". The oval Winchester "W/P" proof marks are stamped on the top of the barrel and the receiver. The upper receiver tang is marked: "MODEL 94/-WINCHESTER- /TRADE MARK REG.U.S. PAT.OFF.&FGN." in three lines. The serial number is located on the lower, forward edge of the receiver.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The carbine retains approximately half of the faded original blue finish. Much of the blue finish is present of the barrel, magazine and lower barrel band. The finish on the receiver, upper barrel band and buttplate has faded to a silver patina with scattered age spotting. The case-hardened finish on the hammer and loading lever has faded to a silver gray with traces of the original case colors. The stock and forearm have been lightly sanded, re-oiled and remain in very good overall condition. This is a solid, original example of a pre-WWII production Model 1894 "Eastern Carbine".
