Manhattan Arms Model V 36 Caliber Percussion Revolver

This Model V Manhattan Arms percussion revolver features a six round cylinder, roll engraved with five oval panels featuring military and naval scenes surrounded by floral patterns and marked "PATENTED DEC 27, 1859" on the rear edge. The top of the barrel flat is marked "MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS CO. NEWARK N.J. / PATENTED MARCH 8, 1864". The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, wedge, and cylinder pin. All parts have been silver plated. Blade front and hammer notch rear sight and fitted with smooth one piece varnished walnut grips.

ConditionFine with approximately 75% of the finish remaining. The lower left side of the frame has a smooth gray patina and there is scattered overall flaking and some areas of "blistering". The grips have once been gold gilt lacquered with traces remaining. There is some lower edge wear and a few minor handling marks. The oval scenes on the cylinder are partially visible and the floral border is clear. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine, but slightly out of time.
