Late production Springfield Armory M1 Garand Type II National Match (NM) Rifle. The rifle has a green parkerized finish with oil-finish walnut stock, handguard, and forearm. The rifle has all of the of the modifications and markings found on Type II NM rifles manufactured in 1962-63.The stock and trigger housing group have fiberglass bedding and the hand guard is glued to the barrel band. The left side of the barrel, the bottom of the gas cylinder, the top of the operating rod and the windage knob are all stamped "NM". The right side of the rear sight base is marked: "NM/2A" . The rifle has a NM hooded rear sight aperture marked "595" and "NM". The left side of the barrel chamber is stamped with the drawing number - "SA 6535448", the date-" 3-56", a "P" proof mark with a punch-stamped center, two "T" targeting marks and three National Match codes that consist of a heart, a conventional cross and a broader cross. The rifle serial number, "07843" is written in white on the inside of the stock and on the front of the trigger housing group. The stock has the National Defense Acceptance mark stamped on the left side below the rear sight and an encircled "P" proof mark on the inside of the pistol grip. There are two decals on the left side of the stock and one on the right. The front sight is a replacement marked: "PB/BM59". With the exception of the front sight all components appear to be correct SA or NM pieces.

Excellent. The parkerized components retain approximately 97% of the original finish. There is some minor finish wear on the front of the bolt, the right side of the barrel chamber, on the operating rod and the receiver legs. The stock, handguard and forearm have light handling and storage wear and are in excellent condition. Except for the decals which probably indicate that this rifle was issued by the DCM to a rifle club. The rifle is an excellent, Type II NM, Springfield M1 Garand Rifle and is complete with plastic rear sight and front sight covers and the CMP shipping carton. This rifle is consecutively numbered to lot below. Buy the other rifle and have the pair!
