This is just a beautiful example of a desirable/scarce Pre-Ban SIG 550 semi-automatic rifle with folding stock. These rifles are the Cadillac of the 5.56mm class of firearms. These were produced and sold on the U.S. market for just a very short time before being banned by the assault rifle bill in 1994. These rifles are noted for their super accuracy, and exceptionally high reliability. The all have hammer forged barrels, plastic folding stocks with the plastic pistol grip with stowage compartment inside, plastic hand guards with the folding integral bipod, with the stamped upper and lower receivers. The rifles all have the distinctive green finish on all the parts. These are the first of the 5.56mm class of rifle to have use a long rod gas piston system similar to the FNFAL design, providing the most reliable and certainly cleanest operating mechanism of any of the assault rifle even today. In fact the U.S. Army is currently looking at adopting a modified version of this gas system as a replacement for the current gas operated system in the M16A2/ M4 Carbines. The left side of the receiver is marked "CH 016/ PE 29727". It is complete with the original (matching) cardboard shipping container, SIG operators manual, factory color brochure, test target, factory sling, two 20 round magazines and the original and complete cleaning kit with roll up carrying case. The manual, brochure and test target etc. are printed in the original Swiss language and not the U.S. versions. .

Near new with 99% plus original finish with the bolt face showing NO evidence of firing. The plastic parts and components are all in as new condition. The various accessories, manuals and cardboard shipping container are all in excellent to as new condition. A super example of a very rare pre-ban SIG 550 semi-automatic rifle. Writer believes this to be the "Cadillac" of all assault rifles.
