OC - FINE- all original parts; over 30% original finish, sharp lettering, numerals and design on metal and wood; minor marks in wood.

Description:

Manufactured 1868 to 1888. Top flat of the barrel is marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y." Silver blade front sight and adjustable sporting rear. The bottom of the barrel is marked "40 70". The receiver is marked "PATENTS / MAY 3, 1864 / NOV. 7, June 1 / NOV 12 DEC 24 / DEC 3 1872 / SEPT. 9 1873". The straight grip stock has a steel crescent buttplate and steel forend tip.

Rating Definition:

Partially refinished stock and forearm with balance very good. The barrel is a very thin brown turning gray with high edge wear with the barrel under the forearm retaining all of its original blue. The receiver, buttplate, and trigger guard retain approximately 10% case color in protected areas otherwise has turned silver with areas of light speckling. The stock has been lightly sanded and varnished with light handling marks. The bore is bright with light frosting in the grooves and the action is excellent.
