Scarce Hi-Shear/ Omega Arms Omega III Bolt Action Rifle

Best known for their production of detonators for the military and explosive bolts and rescue devices for the aerospace industry, Hi-Shear attempted to branch out into the arms industry by recruiting Homer Koon of Omega Arms to design a rifle for them. The resulting arm, the Omega III, was a beautiful arm with a curiously short lifespan; shortly after production was initiated, the firm shut down the line and sent agents to buy back the rifles that already left, destroying all that were returned as well as the unshipped stock. Research turns up much speculation but no confirmed reason for this buyback. Manufactured without sights. Octagonal receiver with jeweled and fluted bolt, internal rotary magazine, factory tapped for mounting, marked "OMEGA III/ BY HI-SHEAR CORP. TORRANCE-CAL." on the left side. Fancy pistol grip stock contoured to match the receiver, with contrasting tip, silver initial shield with raised scroll designs, raised cheekpiece and vented recoil pad. Less than 100 rifles are believed to have made it out the door before the recall was initiated, with only 10 to 25 estimated to still be in circulation. A mysterious and beautiful rifle, whose mystery is only exceeded by its beauty, which would make a fine addition to any collection of American sporting arms.

ConditionExcellent, with 98% of the original blue finish. Some minor spotting is visible on the receiver, minor handling marks overall. Stock is superb, with a few small pressure dents and an attractive, colorful grain. Action is excellent
