Introduced in November of 1941, the German Cross in Silver was awarded for distinguished service, above the level which the War Merit Cross was presented at. Measures 2 1/2" wide with a black enamel swastika on a red bordered silver field, raised silver wreath dated "1941", and backed by a pair of starburst plates, black on silver. The arm on the back is marked "1", but no other markings are present.
