Description:

Early production, Remington Model 1903-A3 rifle manufactured in 1943. The rifle has the early style "S" stock with reinforcing pins and small, stamped, trigger guard. The receiver, barrel and upper barrel band have a gray-green parkerized finish. All of the other components, including the bolt are blued. The receiver is roll-stamped: "U.S./REMINGTON/MODEL 03-A3/3443834" in four lines. The barrel is stamped "RA" followed by the Ordnance Corps "Shell & Flame" insignia and the date "2-43" behind the front sight. The left side of the stock is stamped with the final inspection marks that consist of the Ordnance Corps escutcheon followed by the initials "FJA". A small, encircled, "P" proofmark is stamped on the underside of the stock wrist behind the trigger guard. Four small Remington sub-inspection marks are stamped on the underside of the stock in front of the trigger guard finial. The left side of the butt is stamped with the Ogden Arsenal "OG" inspection mark that indicates this rifle was inspected but obviously not over hauled by the arsenal. All of the visible components have the small "R" applied to Remington parts

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The rifle appears to be un-issued. The rifle retains 99% plus of the original blue and parkerized finish. The stock and handguard are in near mint condition; wear is limited to one very minor storage mark on the left side of the stock. The bore is filled with cosmoline and the bolt is covered with the preservative. The Ordnance final inspection stamps and firing proof are crisp. The receiver and barrel markings are sharp. This is an excellent example of a U.S. World War II Remington M1903-A3 rifle that would be very difficult to improve upon.
