Description:

Group of original documents related to engraver R.J. Kornbrath. 1) Pamphlet "Expert Gun Engraving" details Kornbrath's skill with sample illustrations of his engravings. Highlights on the back of the pamphlet "Have a picture of your dog engraved on your gun". 2) Two page spread out of "The American Rifleman" from February 1932 titled "The Art of the American Gun Engraver" by Charles L. Monson featuring illustrations. 3) Letter to Ed. C. Rieth from R.J. Kornbrath, dated February 8, 1935, including envelope. The letter discusses cost on particular engraving options. 4) Large promotional pamphlet titled "The Art of the American Engraver". Detailed and illustrated on the inside is "Side Views of a Pair of Twin Colt 45 Automatics Decorated for a Western Sportsman by R.J. Kornbrath". (This pair is a major collection and are valued well into the six digit figures.) 5) Two promotional photographs of engraving. Photographs match illustrations in pamphlet described in 4. 6) Memo on Colt letter head regarding three cut-away pistols to hold for the superintendent. An extremely rare package of historical documents, pamphlets, and promotional photography of some of the masterpiece Colts embellished by the most talented engraver of the 20th Century!
