Description:

The top of the barrel is marked "J Fordney/LANCASTER/PA". Jacob Fordney Jr. (1808-1878) was part of the Fordney family of riflemakers based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Rating Definition:

Good with gray and brown patina on the relined barrel, case colors and crisp engraving on the lock, aged patina on the mounts, some light oxidation, and distinct checkering and patterns on the stock. Mechanically functions.

Rating Definition:

Fair as refinished with dark brown on the lock and barrel, pitting, aged patina on the mounts, detached middle ramrod pipe, and cracks and loss in the stock at the breech. Mechanically needs work.
