Bore Condition: The bore is partially darkened with visible rifling and pitting throughout.
Description:

The factory letter lists this revolver as chambered in .44/40 with a blue finish, 4 3/4" barrel length (grips not listed) when part of a shipment of 10 guns shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett in Chicago, IL on December 7th, 1895. An included letter from a previous owner states he purchased the gun from the Wiggins family. Layton Wiggins is said to have used the gun in the Mexican Revolution. Layton's son stated, "This gun was used by my father during the Mexican Revolution era and my father told us it was used many time to kill Mexican bandits. He also told us that this gun saved his life many times."

Rating Definition:

Fair overall with a mottled grey and brown patina, cleaning evidence and scattered pitting. Right grip is chipped. Mechanically fine.
